The Essence of a Citizen of the World

Our world today, is like an open field of diversities. There are so many wonderful ideas, beliefs, technologies, cultures, sciences, and traditions. So much, that education has adapted to these diversities to allow some sort of globalization. But in the rush to climb the ladder of success ,we have forgotten to look anywhere but up.
It is not selfish to love oneself ,but it is selfish not to love another. Look at all the destruction in the world. It is caused solely by the lack of love. We go to war, because we do not love the other enough to trust them. We kill, because we do not love enough to value another person's life. We hate, because we do not love enough to understand. We are corrupt, because we do not love enough to be generous and just. With so many diversities,it is dangerous to be void of an unbiased, unselfish love.
All forms of violence are born as a seed of thought. A seed that blossoms into a vicious tree that ultimately poisons the entire mind. It shades us with an evil darkness and it guards us from the showers of truth. Each fruit that it bears is an idea that it has nurtured to allow hatred to blind our conscience. Any dwindling ray of light that attempts to enlighten us is either swished away by its vast branches or absorbed by it's own deadly bark.
Everyone's greatest fear ,when broken down,is generated by the thought of being alone. Fear of going to a new school, fear of leaving, fear of losing someone, fear of standing up amongst a seated crowd, fear of the dark...fear of loneliness, and not having someone beside you to share those fears. Yet the only defense mechanism we have,is to destroy everyone around us. We push everyone down as we struggle to be better. We forget those who helped us as we gain strength and power. Conclusively, we lead ourselves to the very path we fear most. Even while we are engulfed in that fear,we make sure that no one can climb up to our level, because we fear that they may overcome us.
This diffidence is what prevents us from realizing that we must follow the basic instinct of a species. It is what brought us together into civilization. To be united as one. As Shakespeare wrote in his story,Macbeth,"Our fears do make us traitors",realization dawns. We are traitors to our own kind. By saying "our own kind", I do not mean only the human race, but all the creatures on the earth. We were all brought here by a single bacteria that mutated and evolved into various species.
Where would we be without the immense greenery that cleansed our lives?Or the ocean that kept us at balance, the sun that warms us ,and the atmosphere that protects us?It is hard to imagine the possibility of life without either one of them. This is because they all become one. They make our mother earth. Nature is a living lesson to us. It is the prophecy that lives within the ages. It is like a scream unheard to the ear but awakened in the mind if it were roused.
The one solution that brings together the massive change is not twisted or made of any deep controversy. We must only learn to cherish and accept our differences. We live in a world of vast histories. Some still uncertain. We faced tyranny and brought democracy. We faced injustice and joined hands against it. We fought wars to forge peace. But in truth, much effort was put into building what was easily solved by one utterly straightforward emotion. There are many orthodox believers and there are non-believers,there are different races, and numerous languages. Co-existence is brought about by this one emotion. It is the true essence that makes an unmistakable citizen of the world. It is what I thrive to do everyday of my life and what I remind people of when they have forgotten their ways. To take a deep breath, and understand what is right, to not hastily devour hatred . To simply learn to love.
